Birds of the Cape and Islands in February

It's the monthly Bird News with Mark Faherty, ornithologist and naturalist at the Wellfeet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. Mark joins our host Mindy Todd in The Point studio to give us the season's avian highlights. We hear about the variety of hawks in our region, and how to tell them apart. Listeners call in to report on bald eagle sightings! Reports, too, of other interesting sightings at feeders and out and about. Many birds are already scoping out nesting options for the coming spring, while other species use nesting cavities in trees all winter, not for eggs, but to shelter. We hear about how some species like robins, geese and some catbirds have year-round residents in our region, as well as migrating flocks that will come and go.
