Weekend Outlook: Lots Going on This Holiday Weekend

Merrily Cassidy / Cape Cod Times

Events this weekend highlight a lot of what the Cape is great at doing: supporting nonprofits, playing good music, and showcasing our area's natural beauty. Here's your Weekend Outlook.

Memorial Day weekend is often considered the unofficial start of summer on Cape Cod, but it’s also a solemn holiday. One event that attracts thousands of people to remember people who serve in the military is the Troops in the Spotlight event in Hyannis.

A lot of Cape Cod is in bloom at this time of year, and Heritage Museums & Gardens in Sandwich celebrates with an eight-day rhododendron festival.

A ceremony and party are taking place Saturday in Chatham for the fishing fleet there.  It's the Blessing of the Fleet at the Chatham Fishing Pier.

Down in Provincetown, for fans of the 20-year-old “Great Music @ 5” concert series, Memorial Day weekend is the time of the annual concert to help maintain the instruments at the Unitarian Universalist Meeting House.
