When Home Is Not the Safest Place

Some towns in our region are seeing increased incidents of domestic violence. On The Point, we talk with Lysetta Hurge Putnam, executive director at Independence House about resources and options for those who need to get out of the home because of physical, emotional or sexual abuse.

Independence House 24-hour hotline 800-439-6507.

Offers immediate response to any physical or emotional crisis arising from abuse or sexual assault. Protective Order applications and safety planning is still available from Independence House SAFEPLAN advocates or our staff attorney. Independence House Counselors and Staff Attorney are continuing to work with individuals who are domestic and sexual assault victims and are providing remote support by telephone.
