WCAI News Director Steve Junker hosts a roundup of some of the top local and regional news of the week. His guests include Patrick Cassidy of the Cape Cod Times; Tim Wood of the Cape Cod Chronicle; Sara Brown of the Vineyard Gazette; Andy Tomolonis of South Coast Today; Ann Wood of the Provincetown Banner; and George Brennan of the Martha's Vineyard Times.

Among the stories we talk about: The trial of Adrian Loya unfolds, bringing to light new details about his motive in the killing and attack; Cape Cod's repsonse to Hurricane Harvey; opiod death numbers decline slightly, but the epidemic remains a test for first responders; a proposal to use camera balloons to track sharks; a new tick-borne illness to worry about: Borrelia Miyamotoi; J-1 visas may be cut, which could impact local businesses; and a beachcomber finds (and returns) a ring lost 47 years ago.

Steve is Managing Editor of News. He came to WCAI in 2007. He also hosts the weekly News Roundup on Friday mornings and produces The Fishing News.
