Conspiracy Theories, Cults, and the Attention Economy

Former theoretical physicist Michael Goldhaber predicted that a time would come when an information glut would make it harder and harder for people to focus their attention. He foresaw a world where everyone is desperately seeking their own audience, fracturing reality in the process. Our panel of mental health experts talk about a trend of rejecting the truth.

Guests: Psychiatrists Marc Whaley and Jonathan Schwartz, and social worker Ann Geagan.  Mindy Todd hosts.

Here'sa link to a New York Times piece about the attention economy that was referenced during the show.
