8 cousins bookstore

It wasn’t long ago that many feared the demise of the independent bookstore. Large chain stores like Borders and Barnes and Noble were ubiquitous, and online retailers like Amazon offered discounts and a seemingly unlimited list of titles. But Independent bookstores have held on despite the competition. On The PointMindy Todd talks with independent booksellers on the Cape and Islands about the challenges and rewards of uniting readers with good books. Guests are: Carol Chittenden owner of 8 Cousins Bookstore in Falmouth, Susan Mercier owner of Edgartown Books on the Vineyard,  and Wendy Hudson owner of Nantucket Bookworks
