The Bourne Board of Selectmen is asking residents to send in questions and comments about the proposal to build a machine gun range on Joint Base Cape Cod.
Representatives from the Army National Guard will present the project to the Bourne selectmen during a remote meeting on Tuesday, December 15.
Any questions from the public must be submitted via email to Town Administrator Anthony Schiavi no later than 4:30 p.m. today. He can be reached at aschiavi@townofbourne.com.
The $11 million proposal would require the clear-cutting of 170 acres of trees, and has drawn criticism from environmentalists who worry that activity on the firing range could contaminate the aquifer that provides drinking water to Upper Cape towns.
The Army National Guard has said the range is necessary to provide soldiers the small arms training they need, and it has detailed plans to mitigate environmental impacts.
